Overview

The Terumo BCT Quantum Cell Expansion system provides a functionally closed bench top system for cell expansion procedures. Using a hollow-fiber column, adherent cells are expanded in a controlled and reproducible process without the need for a clean room facility. The design of the column uses 11,500 fibers to create ≈ 2.1 square meter of surface area. The system uses a computer controlled application to perform the typical cell culture steps of seeding, feeding and gas control all the way through the harvesting phase. Studies have shown that mesenchymal stromal cell expansion is extremely efficient using this method. Additionally, recent studies have also show that this system can be used for suspension cultures procedures.

Bio-Sharing works with the researcher to identify the preferred expansion process, media and additives required to achieve the desired characteristics in the cell population.
